It's a rainy fall day and some of the newly coloured leaves can't handle the weight of the rain and are falling to the ground. I like rainy days once in a while. It's a good day to have a pot of homemade soup simmering on the stove and do some chores that I've been putting off because the weather was so nice. When it rains there is no pressure to go out and clean up the vegetable and flower beds and get the firewood piled inside for winter. That can be done tomorrow if the weather is nice.
The animals have found a place out of the rain, snuggled together on the furniture on the porch.
Tanner (the chocolate lab), Willie and Willow (the two white cats) will definitely miss that outdoor furniture when it has to come in. Even the chickens are huddled just inside the barn door hoping the rain will taper off soon so they can get back out there to do some more scratching in the dirt.
You really have no choice, rainy days are a time to slow down, relax a bit. We also seem to gravitate towards things that bring us "comfort". Our favourite slippers, hot chocolate and marshmellows, the old sweater or sweatshirt, or just crawling into bed with a good book....oh and don't forget Mom's homemade soup simmering on the stove.
